QUALIFICATIONS: The LHC Primary Care Physician must have documentation of education as MD or DO and completion of accredited residency program. A current and active license to practice medicine in Delaware. Have and maintain an active, non-restricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate. A current BLS. Minimum of 3 years working as a PCP. The ability to evaluate and manage patients while ensuring delivered care meets current standards of practice. Be able to perform care that is accurate, efficient, and consistent with the patient’s needs. Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.
JOB SUMMARY: The Primary Care Physician provides medical assessments and evaluations, provides treatment for emergent, urgent, and routine medical issues, provides, and supervises medical treatment for chronic medical conditions, and participates in organizational initiatives to help prevent diseases and injuries of patients in a community healthcare office setting. The Primary Care Physician works under the direction of the Medical Director and Site Administrator. Salary negotiable.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Examine patients regularly to assess their medical concerns and needs.
Treat patients who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems
Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, or examination results.
Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis.
Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
Monitor patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
Refer patient to medical specialist or another practitioner when necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
